Another Finish

The bed quilt is finished.  I threaded the last loose thread through this morning, put it on the bed and the world didn't end! lol  It's not to my taste, as I made it to Lee's exact specifications but it will help keep me warm.  I will just have to make another one to go on top and cover it up.  I'm going to give my bedroom a revamp, so a new quilt will be part of it.  I'm thinking something gothic.

The phrase in the Pete Murray song is "your fly" not your flower. lol Looks like there are going to be some flies on the hexi quilt now.

WIP It Good!

The unthinkable has happened!  I am down to six projects....Five I can show...One is a secret project for a friend who may visit my blog, so I can't show it yet.

This one has had a change of direction.  The hexi flowers were to be used as the centre for a square in a square quilt.  The inspiration comes from a verse of a Pete Murray song – Opportunity.  It is one of my favourite songs.  The link is here.  The verse that inspired the quilt is “And so it goes another lonely day.  You’re saving time but you’re miles away.  Your flower was drowning in some bitter tea, for seeing lost opportunity.”   The general idea is to have an Art Deco inspired teapot full of dead flowers.  When the quilt is finished, it is going to be dyed using a weak solution of brown dye, which will knock out all the colour and make it look grungy. 

 

I had a stack of small scraps which I didn't know what I wanted to do with that I didn't want to waste....

The pile kept growing......and the beginning of Centigrade Three Zero was born....a minature Grandmother's Garden.  It was a random project, so needed a randome name....30 degrees centigrade is the temperature fabric will burn at....aka Farenheit 451....which just happens to be a book I'm rather partial to.  There is another meaning to the name, but I will keep that for a later date.  

My leader and ender project....a stack of hst's.  I just kept cutting until both fabrics were gone.

Stuff

Thank you for all your kind words in my last post.  It is very much appreciated.  I feel like I am getting my creative mojo back, which is wonderful.  Last year I remember thinking that 2013 was going to be a big year. (I turn 50 next month.)  Little did I know!  The future is beginning to look rosy.  Things are changing and I am moving on in a positive way.  For one thing, being single means I have more time for craft! 

I picked up my new bike on Tuesday after work last week.  I had intended to do it on Monday, but *coff* left the bike rack sitting in the shed.  It is a Giant Sedona (hybrid bike) 2013 model and sheer heaven to ride....especially with the suspension on the seat!  The brakes are very light....I had to keep reminding myself which is the front brake at first.

Knitting as I sat and admired the view.  I'm deconstructing a beret.  The pattern was knit top down.  I wanted to knit it the opposite way.  I can't remember the name of the yarn.....It is made up of cashmere, merino and silk....really lovely to knit with.

This is where I ride my bike most days at the local park.  It was very still on Monday....perfect for taking a photo.

This is David's (DS) lap quilt just before I posted it to him....In the nick of time for his birthday.  The lump in the middle is Lestat.

I'm down to sewing in all the ends of the quilting on the green bed quilt.  I'm having a Tim Burton movie marathon today, to help pass the time as I do finish it.  Then on to casting on a shawl.  I have an idea in my head for a (very) simple lace shawl.  Have to see how it goes....If it doesn't work out, I'll be back to using a pattern! 

Leonie, there are no new flowers in the garden to send you a pic of, but I did take this one for you of the bush yesterday when I went out for a drive in the hills. 

Does anyone know how I can change the day/date of my posts?  Not when it is published on.  My blog is a day behind.....It is Thursday and my blog is a day behind! 

ANZAC Day

It's been 3 months since Lee and I split up.  I'm still feeling lousy and still adjusting, which is why I've not been around. 

I've got rid of everything I possibly can which reminds me of her, apart from this flimsy.  After all the work I put into making it, I couldn't bring myself to bin it.  So instead, I decided to use it to practise my quilting on Elsie.  I'm glad I did, because I am improving and one day it will be cold enough to need an extra quilt on the bed!  It seems Mother Nature has forgotten that autumn is supposed to be cool!  I've just got the binding to do now.  Hopefully it will be finished by the end of the weekend.
